McNeil, who has excelled in a central role this season, recording three goals and three assists in nine games, was subbed off in the latter stages of Everton’s recent 1-1 draw with Fulham.
Dyche confirmed McNeil missed Thursday’s training but has shown promising signs in physiotherapy sessions, leaving hope for his return.
Abdoulaye Doucoure is also uncertain after sustaining a minor issue during the same match. Dyche explained that Doucoure was back on the pitch for light training, with his fitness assessed over the coming days.
Everton remains without James Garner, Tim Iroegbunam, and Youssef Chermiti, though Armando Broja’s return could be on the horizon as he progresses through rehabilitation with Everton’s sports science team.
Dyche, pleased with Everton’s recent unbeaten streak, emphasized the importance of maintaining resilience as they tackle Southampton.
