Manchester United has officially named Ruben Amorim as their new head coach, following the dismissal of Erik ten Hag.

At 39, Amorim has already made his mark, steering Sporting Lisbon to league success and establishing himself as a top coaching prospect in Europe.
INEOS, United’s ownership group, was quick to target Amorim, paying his €10 million release clause along with an additional €1 million to expedite his move from Sporting.
Scheduled to assume his role on November 11, Amorim will make his debut as United’s manager against Ipswich Town on November 24, allowing Ruud van Nistelrooy to oversee the team for three games in the interim.
In a club statement, United lauded Amorim’s impressive record, which includes two Primeira Liga titles with Sporting. Amorim’s journey has been remarkable, rising from Portugal’s third division to top-flight success within a few short years.
With Sporting, he ended their 19-year title drought and secured another league championship in 2023.
Amorim faces the challenge of revitalizing a team struggling in both the Premier League and Europa League despite significant summer investments in new signings.
After a poor start to the season, including heavy defeats against Liverpool and Tottenham, INEOS decided to part ways with Ten Hag. Van Nistelrooy, serving as interim coach, will handle upcoming matches against Chelsea, PAOK, and Leicester before Amorim takes charge.
