Liverpool were on the lookout for a replacement for Jurgen Klopp after he announced his departure earlier this year, with several notable names in consideration.

Ultimately, Liverpool chose Arne Slot, who has guided the team to a successful start in the Premier League and Champions League.

According to Carragher, Amorim’s tactical preference for a three-centre-back system did not align with Liverpool’s traditional four-at-the-back approach, a setup used consistently under Klopp.

The transition for players accustomed to Klopp’s style would have been challenging under Amorim, whereas Slot’s style offered a smoother transition for Liverpool’s squad.

Additionally, Carragher noted that Amorim’s approach is well-suited to Manchester United, allowing him to bring a clear, distinct style to Old Trafford.

Manchester United, meanwhile, has high expectations for Amorim, who has shown strong results with Sporting Lisbon, including league titles and an impressive win record. The club’s statement expressed excitement about Amorim’s arrival, scheduled for November 11, 2024.
