Manchester United’s highly anticipated £52 million signing, Leny Yoro, has taken a significant step in his recovery journey, returning to first-team training at Carrington this morning.

The 18-year-old defender, who joined from Lille in July, was sidelined after breaking his foot in a pre-season friendly against Arsenal, just weeks after becoming one of the most expensive teenage defenders in football history.

Yoro was greeted with cheers and lighthearted gestures from his teammates as he joined the main training group for a brief session before continuing his recovery with individual exercises.

Interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy, preparing for United’s upcoming fixtures, has hinted that Yoro’s competitive debut may still be a few weeks away, with the Europa League tie against PAOK potentially too soon for his full return. However, the young Frenchman’s comeback has sparked optimism among United fans and staff alike.

United’s defense, plagued by injuries, could soon benefit from Yoro’s skill and versatility. Currently, defenders like Lisandro Martinez and Matthijs de Ligt have held the backline but have seen mixed results as the team works to stabilize after a difficult start to the season.

With Ruben Amorim set to take over as United’s head coach on November 11, Yoro will be eager to impress and integrate into the squad under new leadership. Meanwhile, midfielders Kobbie Mainoo and Mason Mount, as well as defenders Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire, are also progressing in their recoveries and may soon add depth to the squad.
