Sporting CP has set a £63 million asking price for their star striker, Viktor Gyokeres, ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.

The Swedish international, who joined Sporting in a £20 million move from Coventry City, has been in sensational form, netting an impressive 66 goals across 67 appearances in all competitions since his arrival.

With interest growing from top Premier League clubs, including Manchester United, Arsenal, and Chelsea, Gyokeres could be one of the most sought-after players in the market next summer.

Despite Gyokeres having a €100 million (£83 million) release clause in his current Sporting contract, reports from The Telegraph indicate that the Portuguese club is prepared to negotiate a deal at a lower price of £63 million.

This update follows his standout performance in Sporting’s recent 4-1 Champions League victory over Manchester City, where Gyokeres played a pivotal role, scoring a hat-trick that highlighted his potential on the European stage.

When asked about the possibility of signing Gyokeres, incoming United manager Ruben Amorim dismissed any January transfer intentions but left the door open for a future move.

“No, no, no. I cannot be funny about that at this moment,” Amorim stated, acknowledging his emotional departure from Sporting but hinting at the likelihood of Gyokeres’s potential departure at the season’s end.

Gyokeres himself spoke fondly of Amorim’s departure, noting, “We achieved a lot together, and of course, we will miss him. But we must face the next challenge ahead.”

The player’s comments reflect his respect for the departing manager while remaining focused on his current role with Sporting as they push forward in the season.

With Manchester United, Arsenal, and Chelsea closely monitoring the situation, Gyokeres may be preparing for a high-profile switch to the Premier League next summer, where his proven goal-scoring ability could make a significant impact.
