Collins recently received his first national team call-up for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda, making him the only home-based player in the squad.
Collins has consistently shone in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) this season, delivering standout performances for Nasarawa United. “Collins is a top-quality defender,” Dogo shared in an exclusive interview from Lafia.
“I joined the team just four days before the season began, and he’s already made a remarkable impression. I genuinely believe he has what it takes to become a regular player for the Super Eagles.”
The coach also highlighted the importance of staying humble and embracing growth for Collins to reach his full potential at the national level. “The key for him is to stay grounded and keep learning. This opportunity will be a valuable learning curve for him,” Dogo added.
Additionally, Dogo commended Super Eagles coach Augustine Eguavoen and his technical crew for their commitment to merit-based selections.
Praising their work, he noted, “I have to commend Coach Eguavoen and his team for their openness in player selection. When you look at the quality of players brought into the CHAN team, it’s clear they’re making choices based on merit.”
Dogo also acknowledged the efforts of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in appointing quality coaches, singling out Daniel Ogunmodede and Fidelis Ilechukwu for their achievements with their clubs.
