Despite Rashford’s drop in form at Manchester United, Tuchel, set to take charge of England in 2025, is keen to reintegrate him into the national setup.

The past 18 months have been challenging for Rashford. His underwhelming 2023/24 season, with just eight goals and six assists in 43 appearances, led Gareth Southgate to leave him out of England’s Euro 2024 squad.

This season hasn’t seen significant improvement either, with interim coach Lee Carsley overlooking him in favor of players like Anthony Gordon and Jack Grealish.

However, Tuchel believes Rashford’s absence weakened England’s left-sided attacking options, which he felt contributed to England’s defeat by Spain in the Euro 2024 final.

The German manager has reportedly contacted Rashford, expressing his admiration and outlining a vision where Rashford is an “essential part of the England squad,” potentially making a return in March if his club form sees improvement.

Rashford’s Journey with the Three Lions

Since debuting for England in 2016, Rashford has amassed 60 caps, scoring 17 goals. He played pivotal roles in Euro 2016, Euro 2020, and the World Cups in 2018 and 2022, scoring three goals at the last World Cup.

As Ruben Amorim takes over at United, Rashford will hope for a resurgence under new management. Meanwhile, England faces Greece and Ireland in the Nations League next week, Carsley’s last stint before Tuchel’s debut in March for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
