Reports suggest that Guardiola, who has led City through a golden era since 2016, may leave at the season’s end.

His tenure has seen Manchester City dominate English football, clinching four consecutive Premier League titles, six domestic cups, and a Champions League trophy.

With City struggling recently, losing their last four matches and dropping out of the Carabao Cup, the club is reportedly looking toward life after Guardiola.

However, former England midfielder Danny Murphy believes that while Arteta and Maresca have strong connections to the club, they won’t be front-runners for the role.

Arteta, now managing Arsenal, previously served as Guardiola’s assistant, and Maresca, currently Chelsea’s manager, spent time working with City’s academy.

Murphy suggests City will look for a coach with significant experience in winning major competitions, particularly with Hugo Viana set to take on the sporting director role.

Murphy also notes that Arteta and Maresca might not want to leave their current projects at Arsenal and Chelsea, respectively, to follow in Guardiola’s footsteps.

Instead, names like Zinedine Zidane, Carlo Ancelotti, Xabi Alonso, Vincent Kompany, and potentially Julian Nagelsmann could be more likely candidates.
