Originally slated to begin on Monday, Amorim is now expected to arrive in the UK on schedule but will not be able to assume his duties at Carrington until his visa process is finalized, a process expected to be completed later this week.

Despite the delay, the impact on Amorim’s plans should be minimal as the majority of United’s first-team squad is away on international duty.

Amorim, 39, led Sporting Lisbon one last time on Sunday against Braga and is scheduled to travel to the UK on Monday. He is expected to reunite with United’s full squad next Thursday, allowing him to prepare thoroughly for his first match against Ipswich Town after the break.

Interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy, who took charge for United’s recent games following Erik ten Hag’s departure, ended his tenure on a high note with a 3-0 victory over Leicester City.

Van Nistelrooy, contracted with United until 2026, has expressed his willingness to stay on and support the team under Amorim, though his role remains uncertain with Amorim’s likely preference for his own backroom staff.
