Manchester United are reportedly eyeing a move for Christopher Nkunku, who has grown frustrated with his lack of Premier League minutes at Chelsea.

With Ruben Amorim officially taking charge at United today, the club is looking to strengthen their attack in January—and Nkunku is on their radar.
Nkunku has had an impressive start to the 2024-25 season with 10 goals in 17 appearances across all competitions. However, his game time has been largely restricted to the Europa Conference League and Carabao Cup, with just one Premier League start back in August.
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca’s deep squad has allowed him to rotate extensively, keeping Nkunku, Joao Felix, and Mykhailo Mudryk primarily for midweek matches while Cole Palmer, Noni Madueke, and Pedro Neto are favored for league games.
According to L’Equipe, Nkunku’s frustration over his limited role has him contemplating a move, and United are interested in the former RB Leipzig star. United’s goal-scoring struggles have persisted, and Sunday’s 3-0 win over Leicester marked only the second time this season they’ve netted more than two goals in a league game.
Chelsea may be open to negotiating in January, though Nkunku has yet to formally express a desire to leave. Despite his impressive six-goal haul in the Europa Conference League, Nkunku didn’t join Chelsea in 2023 to play a backup role or focus on secondary competitions. His Premier League minutes remain scarce, with only 154 minutes across the season and a brief cameo in Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Arsenal.
With interest mounting, January could be an opportune moment for United to bring in a fresh attacking option. The club’s fans will be eager to see if Amorim can secure a deal that might add the firepower United desperately need.
