Obassa is among the 25 players Rohr selected for the two encounters, with the coach emphasizing the importance of Obassa’s familiarity with Nigerian football.
Rohr shared with Mega Sports that Obassa’s experience in Nigerian football could be an asset for Benin’s squad.
“Obassa knows Nigerian football very well since he plays for Remo Stars, which is one of the best clubs in Nigeria at the moment,” Rohr stated. “His experience and know-how can also be useful to us, whether in training or possibly in matches.”
Benin’s national team, the Cheetahs, will face Nigeria’s Super Eagles at the Felix Houphouet-Boigny Stadium in Abidjan on Thursday. Benin needs a victory to strengthen their position in the race to qualify for the AFCON 2025 tournament in Morocco.
