Ruben Amorim, recently appointed as Manchester United’s head coach, is being encouraged by former Red Devils striker Louis Saha to consider bringing in club legend Roy Keane as part of his coaching staff.

Amorim, who previously coached Sporting CP, arrived at United’s Carrington training ground yesterday.
While he awaits final approval of his work visa, he has already made impactful moves, including the decision to part ways with interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy, who successfully held the position following Erik ten Hag’s departure.
Amorim is planning to bring a number of trusted aides from Sporting CP to Manchester United, including first-team coaches Carlos Fernandes, Adélio Candido, Emanuel Ferro, sporting scientist Paulo Barreira, and goalkeeping coach Jorge Vital.
However, some, including former United defender Rio Ferdinand, have questioned whether Amorim is assembling the right team, suggesting that he might benefit from retaining Van Nistelrooy or adding a familiar face to help ease his transition.
Saha believes Keane, known for his deep understanding of the game and fierce competitiveness, would be an invaluable addition to Amorim’s team, especially in developing United’s midfield.
“Roy Keane would make a huge impact with his knowledge and the competitive spirit needed at Manchester United,” Saha told BoyleSports. “He brought a presence to the team as a player, contributing to much of the club’s success during his time.”
Although Keane has been candid about his reservations regarding a return to United, Saha suggests that the former captain could adapt his approach to today’s players.
Despite his tough reputation as a pundit, Keane’s experience and ability to inspire may prove beneficial for a club looking to restore its competitive edge.
Keane’s last coaching role was with the Republic of Ireland in 2018, and he has previously downplayed the likelihood of returning to Manchester United, stating, “They’re not gonna be asking me,” in a recent interview.
Whether Amorim will take Saha’s advice and reach out to Keane remains to be seen, but such an addition could bring a unique blend of experience and motivation to Manchester United as they navigate a new chapter.
