The 26-year-old French international, who joined Chelsea from RB Leipzig for £52 million in 2023, has faced injury setbacks, limiting him to just 11 Premier League appearances last season.

However, he has shown glimpses of his potential this term, scoring 10 goals in 16 matches, albeit mostly in the Europa Conference League and Carabao Cup.

Despite these performances, Nkunku has struggled for regular first-team minutes under new manager Enzo Maresca, with competition from players like Nicolas Jackson, Noni Madueke, and Cole Palmer.

Reports suggest that Nkunku is becoming frustrated by his lack of playing time, fueling speculation about a potential January move to United. However, former Chelsea defender Glen Johnson has advised Nkunku to stay at Chelsea and fight for his place, emphasizing that the team is improving.

Johnson believes that Nkunku could have a significant impact if he regains full fitness and secures a regular spot in the starting eleven. “Chelsea are going in the right direction, and if Nkunku can get fit and get himself into the team, then Chelsea have a good player on their hands,” Johnson said.

While there has been speculation about Nkunku’s future, former players like Glenn Hoddle and Eni Aluko have praised his potential, with Aluko particularly backing him to challenge Jackson for a starting role.

Despite injury setbacks, Nkunku’s future at Chelsea remains promising if he can find consistency and fitness.
