Manchester United legend Louis Saha has called on his former club to focus their financial efforts on acquiring England captain Harry Kane, even if it means paying a hefty £120 million, rather than pursuing Viktor Gyokeres.

The 25-year-old Gyokeres has been sensational since joining Sporting from Coventry City in 2023, netting 43 goals last season and adding another 23 in just 16 appearances this term.
His remarkable goal-scoring form, including impressive performances in the Champions League, has placed him on United’s radar, especially following the move of his former manager Ruben Amorim to Old Trafford.
Despite Gyokeres’ stats, Saha believes the Swedish forward may not be the right fit for United. Saha, who scored prolifically during his time at Old Trafford, expressed concerns over whether Gyokeres could handle the intense expectations associated with United.
He suggests that while Gyokeres thrives at Sporting, where the stakes are comparatively lower, Manchester United requires a more seasoned and reliable finisher.
Saha strongly backs a move for Kane, who has proven himself repeatedly in the Premier League with Tottenham and currently continues his dominance at Bayern Munich with a phenomenal 61 goals in 61 games.
The 31-year-old’s consistent scoring ability and potential desire to return to the Premier League to break Alan Shearer’s all-time record could make him an ideal solution for United’s attack.
While Manchester United evaluates its options, Saha’s endorsement adds weight to the argument for bringing in a tried-and-tested goalscorer like Kane, who could provide the consistency and impact needed to elevate the club’s competitive edge in the league.
