William Troost-Ekong is confident the Super Eagles will secure their spot in AFCON 2025 by defeating the Cheetahs of Benin Republic.

With Nigeria needing just a single point from their final two Group D games, Troost-Ekong is optimistic they can get the job done. Currently, the Super Eagles lead the group with 10 points, four points ahead of Benin Republic. After the Benin match, they’ll face Rwanda in their final group game in Uyo.

Reflecting on past performances, Troost-Ekong noted, “The last time we played against Benin Republic, we won 3-0.” However, he’s aware of the challenge Benin presents, especially since former Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr now leads the Cheetahs. “I know Benin is a solid team, and Coach Rohr knows our squad well. We’ve had tough games against them before, but here, in this stadium where we’ve created great AFCON memories, we’re prepared,” he said confidently.

Troost-Ekong highlighted the team’s readiness in Abidjan, saying, “We feel at home here, and I believe we can qualify with a win tomorrow. It’s going to be a tough game, but we’re in top form from training and camp sessions. Everyone is prepared to bring their best.”

He also acknowledged Benin’s resilience, noting their previous 2-1 comeback victory against Nigeria in a past World Cup qualifier. But this time, Troost-Ekong is certain that the Super Eagles, backed by recent hard work and ideal conditions, are fully prepared to clinch the win and book their ticket to AFCON 2025.
