The Uruguayan midfielder joined United from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer for £42million, but he has struggled to make an immediate impact, with just three Premier League starts to his name so far.

Ugarte, however, remains positive about his future at Old Trafford, especially with the appointment of Ruben Amorim as the new manager.

Having previously worked with Amorim at Sporting CP, Ugarte is excited about the direction the club is heading under his former coach.

Speaking ahead of Uruguay’s World Cup qualifier against Colombia, Ugarte expressed his happiness with both his personal progress and the team’s performance.

“It always takes time to adapt to the league, which I think is the best league in the world,” Ugarte said. “But I feel very good physically and I am happy with how we are doing as a team. There is a lot of optimism.”

Earlier this month, interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy, who replaced Erik ten Hag, expressed confidence in Ugarte’s ability to succeed at United.

The Dutchman praised the midfielder’s qualities, noting his ability to break up play and recover possession, which will be key to the team’s attacking transitions.
