Super Falcons Stars Nnadozie and Ajibade Nominated for 2024 CAF Women’s Player of the Year

Nigeria’s Chiamaka Nnadozie and Rasheedat Ajibade have been named among the nominees for the prestigious 2024 CAF Women’s Player of the Year award.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) unveiled the 10-player shortlist via their official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Wednesday, highlighting the continent’s finest talents.

Joining the Super Falcons duo on the list are Zambia’s Barbra Banda and Racheal Kundananji, South Africa’s Jermaine Seoposenwe and Thembi Kgatlana, Morocco’s Sanaa Mssoudy, Malawi’s Temwa Chawinga, and Sandrine Niyonkuru from Burundi.

Nnadozie, Nigeria’s first-choice goalkeeper, has also earned a spot in the Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year category, solidifying her reputation as one of Africa’s top shot-stoppers.

For the Women’s Young Player of the Year, Nigeria is well-represented by Chiamaka Okwuchukwu and Flourish Sabastine, showcasing the nation’s promising footballing future.

In the Interclub Player of the Year category, Edo Queens stars Emem Essien and Monle Oyono are set to compete against other top performers from the continent.

These nominations highlight the exceptional talent coming out of Nigeria, reinforcing the country’s position as a powerhouse in African women’s football.
