Mbeumo was substituted late during Brentford’s thrilling 3-2 win over Bournemouth earlier this month, sparking concerns.
He subsequently withdrew from Cameroon’s squad for the international break. Similarly, Yoane Wissa, who has scored seven Premier League goals this season, pulled out of DR Congo’s squad due to fitness worries.
Despite these setbacks, Frank expressed optimism:
“All of them [Mbeumo, Wissa, and Ethan Pinnock], I expect to be available and ready for Saturday. These were minor issues, not injuries. A week’s rest made all the difference, and we’re thankful for the cooperation from their national teams.”
Mbeumo’s impressive performances this season have drawn interest from top clubs, including Liverpool and Newcastle United, ahead of the January transfer window. However, Frank remains unconcerned about the speculation impacting the 24-year-old’s focus:
“I’m very happy when players are linked with other clubs—it means they’re doing well, and that’s good for us. Bryan is in his sixth season here and remains professional and dedicated. He comes into training every day with a big smile and great energy.”
With 12 league games played, Brentford sit mid-table, and Mbeumo and Wissa’s availability will be vital as they look to build momentum after the international break.
