Maduka Okoye has shared his thoughts on making his first Super Eagles appearance in two years. The goalkeeper returned to action during Nigeria’s 2-1 loss to Rwanda in the final Group D match of the AFCON 2025 qualifiers.

Previously, Okoye’s last game for Nigeria was during the 2021 AFCON round of 16 clash against Tunisia.
Reflecting on his comeback, the Udinese first-choice keeper expressed both disappointment with the result and pride in wearing the national team jersey once more.
“Despite the result, I’m more than happy and grateful to have played in this jersey again,” Okoye stated. “It has always been, it is, and it will forever be an honor to represent Nigeria.”
Okoye’s return marks a significant step in his international career as he aims to solidify his place in the Super Eagles lineup.
