Callum Wilson and Kieran Trippier are edging closer to a return to action for Newcastle United, though manager Eddie Howe is taking a measured approach regarding their availability for Monday’s Premier League clash with West Ham.

Wilson, yet to feature this season due to hamstring and back injuries, has begun training with the group. Howe noted that while Wilson could potentially play, the final stages of his recovery require careful management to ensure long-term fitness.

Trippier, sidelined since October with a hamstring issue, is slightly ahead in his recovery. After a positive training session on Thursday, he is nearing readiness but may still require additional preparation.

The Magpies, enjoying a three-match winning streak, will also be without Dan Burn (suspension) and Emil Krafth, who faces 6-8 weeks out after shoulder surgery. Meanwhile, Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles remain on the long-term injury list.
