Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has identified a significant challenge for Ruben Amorim as the new Manchester United manager prepares for his debut match against Ipswich Town on Sunday.

Amorim, who recently succeeded Erik ten Hag after leaving Sporting Lisbon, is expected to make a strong first impression. However, Carragher warns the encounter at Portman Road may not be as straightforward as it seems.
The problem lies with Ipswich’s manager, Kieran McKenna, who previously served as a coach at Old Trafford and has in-depth knowledge of United’s squad.
Carragher explained, “Facing a side fourth from bottom might seem an easy start, but Ipswich’s coach knows United’s players better than most. If McKenna spots unfamiliar setups, it gives Ipswich an edge.”
Promoted from the Championship last season, Ipswich currently sit just outside the relegation zone, with striker Liam Delap impressing through six goals and an assist in 11 games.
Despite United’s hopes of a new era under Amorim, Carragher emphasizes the tactical insight McKenna brings, potentially complicating the Portuguese manager’s debut.
