Manchester United are intensifying their pursuit of Sporting CP’s teenage star Geovany Quenda.

The 17-year-old winger, who has enjoyed a breakout season with 18 appearances across all competitions, is admired by Ruben Amorim, who managed him at Sporting before taking the reins at Old Trafford.
Amorim’s departure left a void for the talented youngster, but reports suggest Quenda could follow his former mentor to Manchester in a deal valued at £50m, including performance-based bonuses.
Sporting’s Stance on Transfer Talks
Quenda, under contract with Sporting until 2027, recently saw his release clause increase to £84m. While Sporting’s hierarchy is open to discussions, they insist on a significant offer to consider an early departure.
The negotiations could mirror United’s rumored interest in Viktor Gyokeres, further fueled by Amorim’s move to England. When asked about signing Sporting players, Amorim hinted he might revisit his old squad in the summer, leaving room for speculation about a potential reunion with Quenda at Old Trafford.
