Manchester United have emerged as strong contenders to sign Wolves’ star forward Matheus Cunha, but the Midlands club remains firm in their resolve to keep hold of the Brazilian talent.

Cunha, 25, has been a revelation at Wolves since completing a permanent move in 2023 after a successful loan spell. In just 49 appearances, the Brazilian has tallied an impressive 21 goals and 13 assists, establishing himself as a key player under Gary O’Neil’s management.

His exceptional form continued over the weekend, as Cunha netted a remarkable brace in Wolves’ 4-1 win against Fulham. This standout performance has only fueled speculation, with Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United reportedly tracking the forward’s situation at Molineux.

Wolves Determined to Keep Cunha

Despite the growing interest, Wolves are not ready to part with their prized attacker. According to talkSPORT, Wolves’ director of football, Matt Hobbs, has assured head coach Gary O’Neil that Cunha will not be sold during the January transfer window.

Cunha remains tied to Wolves until 2027 under his current contract, and the club is determined to build around his talents rather than cash in.

Cunha Focused on Wolves Amid Rumors

In the midst of swirling transfer rumors, Cunha has maintained his commitment to Wolves. Speaking to Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte earlier this year, he expressed his contentment with the club.

“I’m very happy at Wolves,” he said. “The focus now is to have better seasons and help the club. God willing, I will continue on this path.”

A Manager’s Praise

O’Neil, Wolves’ head coach, has been vocal about his admiration for Cunha, highlighting the strides the player has made since arriving at the club.

“This isn’t the Matheus Cunha that arrived at Wolves,” O’Neil remarked after the Fulham game. “The penny has definitely dropped that he can be a top player. His talent is incredible.”

The manager even drew comparisons to Premier League stalwarts like Bernardo Silva and Martin Odegaard, emphasizing Cunha’s growth as a complete player.
“The numbers he’s producing right now are up there with everybody,” said O’Neil. “He’s going to stay at Wolves for as long as possible, firstly. But after that, there’s no limit to where he can go.”

For now, Wolves remain resolute in keeping their star man, but with clubs like Manchester United and Tottenham keeping a close watch, Cunha’s future could become one of the most talked-about sagas in the upcoming transfer window.
