Alexander-Arnold, whose Liverpool contract enters its final six months in January, has reportedly been in extensive talks with Madrid for a potential free transfer.

If the move materializes, it would see the England international join close friend and teammate Jude Bellingham at the Santiago Bernabéu. However, ahead of Real Madrid’s Champions League showdown with Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday, both Bellingham and Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti were careful not to fuel speculation.

Alexander-Arnold, recently returning to training after a hamstring injury, is expected to start on the bench for the highly anticipated clash. The Reds currently lead the Champions League group, sitting two points ahead of their Spanish rivals.

Bellingham, who has excelled since his move to Madrid, was asked about the transfer links during a press conference but declined to engage in the conversation.

“I’ll be playing alongside him next season for England anyway, hopefully. That’s a guarantee,” Bellingham quipped. “He’s a Liverpool player, and I think it’s disrespectful to come to his home today, ahead of a huge game, and discuss rumors that could be misconstrued.”

The 21-year-old midfielder, a close friend of Alexander-Arnold, added:

“It’s important to take that pressure off him. He’s a really good mate of mine, and I want him to succeed – but obviously not tomorrow night. We’ll see what happens, but for now, he’s a Liverpool player.”

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti also deflected questions about the potential transfer during his media appearance.

“I’m sorry, but I can’t talk about Alexander-Arnold – he’s not my player,” said Ancelotti.

With Alexander-Arnold’s contract nearing its end and Madrid’s interest reportedly growing, the speculation will likely intensify in the coming months. However, both Liverpool and Real Madrid remain focused on their critical Champions League encounter for now.

Stay tuned for updates as the story develops.
