The Moroccan defender, signed from Bayern Munich for £12.3 million last summer, has exceeded expectations in his debut season.
Initially playing as a right-back under Erik ten Hag, Mazraoui has transitioned to a key role in Amorim’s 3-4-3 system, excelling as a right-sided center-back.
His performance against Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League, where he provided a crucial assist for Rasmus Højlund, further showcased his importance to the team.
Mazraoui’s adaptability, athleticism, and composure on the ball have earned him admiration both within the club and from fans.
Amorim emphasized his importance, stating, “He’s an incredible player, our future. He’s versatile, consistent, and exactly the kind of player we need.”
Despite fitness concerns before his arrival, Mazraoui has been a mainstay, featuring in every match this season and starting all but one of United’s 12 Premier League games.
Mazraoui’s Role in United’s Grueling December Schedule
Mazraoui’s consistency will be vital as Manchester United face a demanding December schedule, including Premier League clashes, European fixtures, and a League Cup quarter-final against Tottenham. Amorim will rely heavily on the Moroccan’s resilience as he aims to turn United’s season around after a challenging start.
