Head Coach Augustine Eguavoen has announced a 30-player roster as the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) ramps up efforts to secure the Super Eagles B’s place in the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN).

The tournament, exclusively for players active in their domestic leagues, will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania in February 2025.
Key Players Highlighted
Among the notable invitees is Kano Pillars’ seasoned midfielder Rabiu Ali, who has netted eight goals this season.
Joining him are Remo Stars’ goalkeeper Kayode Bankole, Rivers United defender Steven Mayo, and Abia Warriors’ forward Sunday Megwo.
Also included are Enyimba FC goalkeeper Henry Ozoemena, Rangers International midfielder Kazeem Ogunleye, and Nasarawa United forward Anas Yusuf.
Victor Collins, who was part of last month’s AFCON qualifiers, and Plateau United’s Adamu Abubakar round off the list of experienced players.
Preparations and Key Fixtures
All players are expected to report to the Remo Stars Sports Institute in Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State, by Wednesday, December 4, 2024. The camp will prepare the team for a two-legged qualification battle against Ghana’s Black Stars B.
The first leg will take place on Sunday, December 22, at the Accra Sports Stadium, while the return leg is scheduled for Saturday, December 28, at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
A History of Rivalry with Ghana
Nigeria faces a tough challenge, as Ghana has thwarted the Super Eagles’ CHAN aspirations twice—in 2009 and 2023.
In 2009, Nigeria squandered a 2-0 lead in Accra, conceding three second-half goals. The return leg in Calabar ended in a goalless draw.
More recently, in 2023, both teams won 2-0 at home, but Ghana triumphed in a penalty shootout to secure their spot in the finals hosted by Algeria.
