Speaking exclusively to softfootball.com, Abubakar acknowledged the opportunity as a significant achievement, attributing his success to his club, teammates, and faith.
Abubakar has proven himself a vital player for Plateau United, earning the Man of the Match award four times in just six NPFL games this season and emerging as one of the club’s top scorers with four goals.
His consistent form has earned him a call-up from Super Eagles B Team coach Augustine Eguavoen, a testament to his impressive season so far.
Reflecting on his journey, Abubakar emphasized that a national call-up is just the beginning. “It’s one thing to be recognized in the league, but proving yourself at the national level requires even more hard work,” he stated, adding that he aspires to catch the eye of European clubs through his performance.
As Plateau United prepare to face Rangers this weekend, Abubakar hopes to stay injury-free and maintain his form to win more awards. He shared, “You don’t start a race to stop halfway. I want to give my best, stay fit, and aim for more achievements with Plateau United.”
Currently sixth in the NPFL standings, Plateau United are set to host fifth-placed Rangers in a closely contested Match Day 11 fixture, where Abubakar will look to make his mark.
