Lookman shares this honor with football icons such as Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappé, and Erling Haaland. Alongside Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, he is one of only two African players shortlisted.
Lookman’s stellar year has seen him shine for both club and country. Representing Nigeria at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire, the 27-year-old contributed three goals and an assist across seven matches, emerging as a standout performer.
His club achievements with Atalanta have been equally impressive, capped by a historic hat-trick in the UEFA Europa League final, a remarkable feat that elevated his profile on the international stage.
In addition to his Globe Soccer Awards nomination, Lookman ranked 14th in the 2024 Ballon d’Or and is also a contender for the CAF Men’s Player of the Year award.
