Despite the challenging task, Spittler believes his players have the ability to achieve a favorable result.
The Amavubi need to secure a victory over the Super Eagles while hoping for a favorable outcome in the match between Libya and Benin Republic.
Rwanda’s defeat to Libya on Thursday has left them in a precarious position, sitting third in the group with five points. In contrast, Nigeria, already qualified, leads the group with 11 points and will retain the top spot regardless of the result on Monday.
Speaking during his pre-match press conference on Sunday, Spittler emphasized the importance of teamwork and organization against Nigeria’s formidable attack.
“Our approach is to work as a team because competing one-on-one against their strikers is nearly impossible,” said the German tactician.
“We need to organize ourselves, often having two or three players close to their key attackers. Otherwise, it will be very difficult. However, I am hopeful my team can do it. We’ve shown our potential in certain matches, and this will be our aim tomorrow.”
The decisive match promises high stakes as Rwanda looks to keep their qualification hopes alive.
