Benin head coach Gernot Rohr has called up a 26-man squad to face Nigeria and later Libya. With four group games played, Benin sits in second place with six points, trailing Nigeria by four points. Both teams are determined to secure one of the two qualification spots for next year’s AFCON tournament in Morocco.
The Cheetahs will be hoping to replicate the impressive feat they achieved in their 2026 World Cup qualifiers, having proven capable of staging upsets. In their last encounter in June, Benin shocked the Super Eagles, overturning an early deficit to win 2-1 on matchday 4.
However, Nigeria responded in style with a commanding 3-0 victory over Benin in Uyo on matchday 1 of the AFCON qualifiers, led by a brace from Ademola Lookman and a goal from Victor Osimhen.
As the stage is set for another thrilling clash, all eyes are on the Cheetahs and Super Eagles to see who will inch closer to securing a ticket to AFCON 2025.
