Reports suggest United are willing to sell Antony for £40 million, though Ajax are hesitant about the move, with concerns surrounding his current form and mindset. According to De Telegraaf’s Mike Verweij, internal discussions at Ajax question whether bringing back the player, who has failed to make a significant impact at United, would be beneficial.
While some argue that Antony would thrive again in the Eredivisie, Verweij downplayed concerns over his potential struggles in the Dutch league. He noted that other former United players, like Wout Weghorst and Bertrand Traore, have managed to perform well upon their return to the Eredivisie.
United manager Erik ten Hag, who originally brought Antony to Old Trafford, recently commented that the winger must “earn the right” to start, emphasizing the need for players to compete for their positions.
