Akor Adams has officially joined Sevilla, revealing that Chidera Ejuke and Kelechi Iheanacho played key roles in convincing him to make the move.
During his unveiling at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán on Tuesday, Adams, 24, shared how his fellow Nigerians encouraged him to embrace the opportunity. The striker signed a contract until 2029 after leaving Montpellier.
Reflecting on his arrival, Adams expressed excitement:
“The past few days have been amazing, surrounded by great people. I’m thrilled to be here. My agent handled all negotiations, and we knew Sevilla was a fantastic club. I’m happy to have made this decision.”
He credited Ejuke and Iheanacho for influencing his choice:
“Ejuke told me I would love it here, and Kelechi, being a great player himself, also urged me to join. I’m really glad I listened to them.”
Since arriving on Saturday, Adams had the chance to watch Sevilla’s match against Espanyol.
“It was incredible. From the anthem to the final whistle, the atmosphere was unforgettable. The fans are amazing. We should have won, but Espanyol defended well. Hopefully, we secure a win in the next game.”
Adams has admired Sevilla for years, particularly their European success.
“Before even dreaming of coming here, I followed the club’s journey. They have conquered Europe, winning multiple finals. It’s an honor to be part of such a historic team.”
He hopes to follow in the footsteps of African players who have left their mark at Sevilla.
“This club has a rich history, and I want to contribute to it. Many great African players have played here, and I aim to create my own legacy.”
Describing his playing style, Adams emphasized his versatility and goal-scoring instincts.
“I like finding space and can play alongside another striker or alone. My focus is helping the team and, most importantly, scoring goals. Staying fit and mentally sharp is crucial. The warm welcome has been amazing, and I’m ready to integrate quickly, improving with every match.”
He also hopes to replicate the success he had at Lillestrøm and Montpellier.
“Achieving success in Norway and France was special. Now, I aim to do the same here—adapting to a new system while maintaining my form. I’ll give my all for Sevilla.”
