Ruben Amorim has showered Alejandro Garnacho with praise for his remarkable turnaround at Manchester United, crediting the young winger for his growth since being dropped from the squad for the Manchester derby.
Seven weeks ago, Garnacho and fellow academy star Marcus Rashford were left out of the United lineup in a surprising move. While Rashford’s continued absence fuels speculation, Garnacho has responded in a completely different manner.
The 20-year-old has embraced the challenge, delivering strong performances off the bench, including an assist in United’s 2-0 Europa League victory over FCSB. Amorim highlighted how the Argentine’s attitude has shifted significantly.
“He changed immediately after that City game,” Amorim said. “He understands now that I only want to help him and win games. His approach, recovery, and mentality have improved. He realizes that I have high demands, and while my coaching style might be different, it’s always for his benefit.”
Despite Garnacho’s progress, speculation remains about his future at Old Trafford, with reports suggesting United could offload him to balance their financial situation. Similar rumors surround 19-year-old sensation Kobbie Mainoo, who starred against FCSB with a goal and an assist.
Amorim believes Mainoo is thriving in a more advanced role, where he faces fewer defensive responsibilities. “It’s not about his contract,” he said. “Everyone knows his talent. The key is his position. He seemed much happier in today’s role, and happy players perform better.”
With Garnacho proving his worth and Mainoo adapting impressively, United’s young talents are making their mark—whether they remain at the club or not remains to be seen.
