Alex Iwobi is confident that the Super Eagles can claim their fourth Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title when the tournament kicks off in Morocco in 2025.
The Nigerian national team, three-time AFCON champions, finished as runners-up in the previous edition after a 2-1 defeat to host nation Cote d’Ivoire in the final. However, Iwobi believes they can go all the way this time.

“We were so close last time. Now, we want to win it,” the Fulham midfielder stated in a conversation with Chinansa Anukam on the podcast Is This Seat Taken?
Nigeria has been placed in Group C, where they will compete against former champions Tunisia, as well as Uganda and Tanzania.
Their AFCON 2025 campaign begins on December 23 in Fez, where they will face Tanzania in their opening match. The tournament itself runs from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026, with Morocco serving as the host nation.
