Manchester United’s hard-fought 2-2 draw against Liverpool at Anfield showcased their potential to compete with the Premier League’s best.
However, manager Ruben Amorim, while pleased with the performance, voiced his frustration over the team’s inconsistency in replicating such displays against lesser opponents.
Manchester United delivered a spirited performance to secure a point against league leaders Liverpool, easing pressure on manager Ruben Amorim after a series of poor results.
The draw lifted United to 13th in the Premier League table, offering a glimmer of hope after four consecutive defeats.
Despite the positivity surrounding the result, Amorim’s post-match comments highlighted his dissatisfaction.
He expressed frustration that his players failed to show the same determination and quality in previous matches against Bournemouth, Newcastle, and Nottingham Forest.
“I get more mad because of the other games, so it’s even harder to understand some things,” Amorim admitted during his Sky Sports interview.
The manager emphasized that the issue wasn’t technical or tactical but stemmed from the players’ mindset.
He urged the team to bring the same intensity displayed against Liverpool to every match. “If we play against Liverpool every day, we will do that, so we have to do it against any opponent,” he said.
Amorim refrained from immediately addressing his players, opting to calm down before conveying his thoughts. He acknowledged the importance of consistency and fighting spirit as Manchester United navigate their challenging season.
While the result at Anfield was a step forward, Amorim’s insistence on addressing the broader inconsistency reflects the uphill battle he faces in guiding United to stability and success.
