Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has firmly dismissed speculation linking the club to Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford ahead of the January transfer window.
Rashford, who recently revealed his intention to leave United in an interview with The Times’ Henry Winter, stated his desire for a “new challenge” while ensuring a respectful departure from the club he has represented since childhood.
“For me, personally, I think I’m ready for a new challenge and the next steps,” Rashford said.
“When I leave, it’s going to be no hard feelings. You won’t hear any negative comments from me about Manchester United.”
Despite previous links between Spurs and the 27-year-old, Postecoglou was quick to shut down rumors of a potential move. When asked about Rashford’s situation at Old Trafford, the Australian coach made his stance clear.
“No interest, don’t care, no interest,” Postecoglou said. “He’s a Manchester United player, a very good one, but my focus is on managing my players. Other managers can deal with their own players.”
Postecoglou also highlighted the importance of maintaining a disciplined transfer strategy, emphasizing that the club is focused on building sustainably.
“If I looked at everyone we were linked to, I’d have no time to do anything else,” he said.
Rashford’s reported £325,000-a-week wage could also prove a significant hurdle for any potential suitors.
When asked if Spurs might pursue Rashford despite the financial challenges, Postecoglou remained firm.
“We’ve been disciplined in what we’re trying to build here, and we’ll continue to be so,” he said.
“You could ask me about any Premier League footballer, and my answer would be the same—this isn’t on my radar.”
