Ange Postecoglou’s position as Tottenham Hotspur manager has come under intense scrutiny, with the club reportedly considering his future should they fail to reach the Carabao Cup final.

Despite a promising debut season under the Australian manager, Spurs have struggled to maintain momentum, with entertaining performances often overshadowed by poor results. While Tottenham have scored more Premier League goals than all but Liverpool, they currently languish in 12th place, a staggering 11 points away from the top four.

Their recent form has been dismal, with only three wins in their last 12 matches across all competitions. In the league, they’ve suffered heavy defeats, including a 6-3 loss to Liverpool and a 4-3 setback against Chelsea, both at home.

This downturn has made Postecoglou the favorite to be the next Premier League manager sacked, ahead of West Ham’s Julen Lopetegui and Everton’s Sean Dyche.

The Daily Mail reports that while the Tottenham hierarchy has been supportive of Postecoglou, their patience hinges on his performance in other competitions. Spurs have advanced to the Carabao Cup semi-finals, where they face Liverpool over two legs. A strong showing in the FA Cup, starting with a favorable draw against non-league Tamworth, and Europa League progression could provide temporary reprieve for the 59-year-old.

Tottenham’s leadership remains optimistic, citing Postecoglou’s track record of winning silverware in his second season with previous teams. However, failure to reach the Carabao Cup final would severely jeopardize his tenure, especially if league results do not improve.

Compounding the challenges are injury woes that have decimated Spurs’ squad, with no fit center-backs available for their upcoming clash against Wolves.

“We’re in a tough spot and have been for a while,” Postecoglou admitted during his pre-match press conference. “It’s another test for us, but we’ll deal with it and get ready for Sunday.”

Tottenham fans will be watching closely as Postecoglou faces the uphill task of reversing the team’s fortunes, with his future hanging precariously in the balance.
