Antony is set to complete his loan move to Real Betis, with the Brazilian winger traveling to Spain on Friday.
This follows Manchester United’s agreement with the La Liga side earlier this week for a deal that will keep Antony at Betis for the remainder of the season.
Despite being on the bench during United’s 2-1 Europa League win over Rangers, finalizing the transfer faced delays due to discussions with Antony’s representatives and manager Ruben Amorim’s initial reluctance to approve the move.
These hurdles have now been resolved, with Amorim greenlighting the transfer. Antony is expected to travel to Seville to finalize the deal but will miss Betis’ upcoming La Liga clash against Mallorca on Saturday.
However, the club remains optimistic that Antony will make his debut against Athletic Bilbao on February 2.
Betis currently sit mid-table in 12th place in La Liga and were recently eliminated from the Copa del Rey after a heavy 5-1 loss to Barcelona.
Antony, who joined Manchester United from Ajax in 2022 for €100 million (£85.6m), will aim to revive his form in Spain following a challenging stint in England.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are pushing to secure Lecce’s Patrick Dorgu. United’s initial offer of €27m (£22.8m) was rejected as Lecce hold out for €40m (£33.8m).
Dorgu, a 20-year-old versatile wide player who joined Lecce from FC Nordsjaelland in 2022 for just €200,000 (£175,000), has drawn interest for his ability to play on both flanks. United view him as a strong fit for Ruben Amorim’s tactical system.
Napoli, who have been in negotiations with United over Alejandro Garnacho this month, are also keen on Dorgu, making the race for his signature highly competitive.
