Antony has made a significant impact at Real Betis since his loan move from Manchester United in January, quickly becoming a key player for the La Liga side. The Brazilian winger has already notched three goals and two assists in just seven appearances, equaling his Premier League tally from last season.

Despite a controversial red card for a reckless tackle on Getafe’s Juan Iglesias, an appeal overturned his suspension, allowing him to feature in Betis’ impressive victory over Real Madrid. His strong performances have fueled speculation about his future, with Antony reportedly eager to extend his stay in Spain beyond the current season.

Manchester United are expected to make major squad changes this summer, with manager Ruben Amorim keen to revamp his team. The club is looking to offload players to raise transfer funds, and Antony is among those who could be sold permanently to facilitate new signings.

Although Betis’ loan agreement with United does not include a purchase option, club CEO Ramon Alarcon has revealed that the player has expressed his desire to remain in Seville for at least another season. Alarcon shared that Antony was delighted with how quickly he settled into the city and adapted to his new environment.

Amorim, who only handed Antony two starts before loaning him out, previously questioned the winger’s physicality and suitability for English football. The manager suggested that Antony’s struggles at United were largely due to his inability to cope with the Premier League’s physical demands.

However, Antony’s agent, Junior Pedroso, strongly disagreed with Amorim’s assessment, arguing that the player was never given a fair chance to prove himself. Pedroso claimed that his client lacked the confidence and game time needed to showcase his best form during his time under Amorim.

The agent further pointed out that Antony played just 252 minutes across nine appearances under the Portuguese coach, which accounted for only 18.6% of the total available minutes. He insisted that it was unfair to judge a player based on such limited opportunities.

With Antony now thriving at Betis, his future remains uncertain. If United decide to sell him, Betis could push for a permanent move. However, the final decision will likely depend on both the club’s transfer plans and whether Antony continues to impress in Spain.
