Liverpool has been advised to explore options for replacing Andy Robertson in the January transfer window following his inconsistent performances this season.

Since joining the club for just £8 million from Hull City in 2017, Robertson has evolved into a crucial player in Jurgen Klopp’s attacking philosophy. However, as he enters his eighth season, concerns regarding his form are starting to emerge.
Robertson faced a challenging match against Bukayo Saka during the recent clash at the Emirates, where he struggled to contain the Arsenal winger, leading to the Gunners’ opening goal.
Former Liverpool player Jermaine Pennant noted that this isn’t an isolated incident and suggested that Arne Slot should seriously consider finding a replacement for the Scottish left-back.
“Liverpool definitely needs to look at a new left-back in January to replace Andy Robertson,” Pennant stated during an interview.
“While he has been a fantastic servant for the club, he clearly struggled against Saka, and it’s evident that he’s not as quick as he once was.”
While Kostas Tsimikas has served as a reliable backup since his arrival in 2020, Pennant believes he should not be seen as a long-term solution for Liverpool’s left-back position.
“Tsimikas performed better after coming on, but I don’t think he’s the answer for a first-choice left-back,” he said. “The club needs to target a more suitable replacement in January.”
Pennant suggested Fulham’s Antonee Robinson as a strong candidate for the role, praising his performances under Marco Silva this season.
“He would be a great fit,” Pennant added. “His speed is crucial when facing opponents like Saka, and he also has the attacking flair to contribute assists, much like Robertson.”
