Arsenal have made an approach to Aston Villa regarding a potential January move for striker Jhon Duran.

The 20-year-old Colombian has been in excellent form, scoring six goals in 11 appearances this season, including a stunning goal in Villa’s Champions League win over Bayern Munich.

However, despite his impact, Duran has struggled for consistent starting opportunities under Unai Emery, who often prefers Ollie Watkins.

Chelsea and West Ham were linked with Duran in the summer, but Villa’s asking price of £75m (£90m) has so far deterred suitors.

Villa’s sporting director, Monchi, has acknowledged the growing interest in Duran but remains confident, with the forward tied to a contract until 2027.

Both Arsenal and Barcelona have inquired about Duran’s availability, but Villa are determined to keep hold of their star unless a significant offer arrives
