Arsenal are making a late push to sign Bayern Munich starlet Mathys Tel before the winter transfer deadline, with their chances boosted by setbacks for rival Premier League clubs.

Manchester United’s negotiations with Bayern collapsed, Chelsea were turned down, and Tottenham’s £50m bid was rejected, leaving the Gunners in prime position.

The Independent reports that Arsenal are actively pursuing Tel, while football expert Florian Plettenberg confirms talks are ongoing.

Bayern are open to a sale or a loan with an obligation to buy but are holding out for the right deal before the window shuts at 11 PM UK time.

The German club is keen to avoid a rushed decision and is considering keeping the 19-year-old if no suitable offer arrives.

Despite his potential, Tel has struggled for game time under Vincent Kompany, fueling his desire to leave.

The young French attacker, who has 16 goals and seven assists in 83 games for Bayern, grew up idolizing Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.

His versatility allows him to play across the front three, and he has even been compared to Kylian Mbappé.

Bayern signed Tel from Rennes for £24m in 2022, and Arsenal are now hopeful of bringing the France U21 international to the Emirates before the window slams shut.
