Arsenal’s hopes of signing Newcastle striker Alexander Isak appear slim as the club is unlikely to afford the record-breaking transfer fee required.
Reports suggest the Sweden international, who caught Arsenal’s eye during his Real Sociedad days, remains a coveted target.
Now recognized as one of Europe’s top center forwards, Isak continued his stellar form by scoring in Newcastle’s Carabao Cup win against Arsenal earlier this week. The 25-year-old has netted in seven consecutive Premier League games, further boosting his value.
Arsenal, struggling with inconsistent performances up front, are seeking a reliable striker to lead their title charge. Although Kai Havertz started the season strongly and Gabriel Jesus has improved, the Gunners remain in search of a dependable forward.
The Daily Mail claims Arsenal’s attempts to sign Isak, whether in January or summer, are unlikely to succeed. Newcastle remains firm in keeping Isak but may entertain offers exceeding £115m, a fee that would set a new British transfer record.
However, Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke seems unwilling to approve such a hefty investment, especially after spending over £100m on Declan Rice in 2023.
With Bukayo Saka sidelined due to hamstring surgery, Arsenal is reportedly eyeing a short-term solution to bolster their squad without significant spending. The club is also expected to offload fringe players, including Kieran Tierney, who could return to Celtic, and Jakub Kiwior, for whom a price tag has been set.
Additionally, Oleksandr Zinchenko may draw interest, with Inter Milan rumored to be preparing a bid for the Ukrainian international.
