Arsenal are plotting a summer move for Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich, whose contract expires in June. While the Germany international would be a major addition, former England defender Michael Dawson believes the Gunners should focus on signing a top-class striker instead.
The North London club’s title challenge has faltered, with injuries to Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz exposing their lack of firepower. Despite missing out on attacking reinforcements in January, Arsenal are now being linked with Kimmich as a potential solution in midfield.
The 30-year-old has won eight Bundesliga titles with Bayern, but contract talks with the German giants have stalled. Reports suggest Arsenal have expressed strong interest, particularly with uncertainty surrounding the futures of Jorginho and Thomas Partey, both of whom are nearing the end of their contracts.

Dawson acknowledges Kimmich’s experience and quality, calling a potential free transfer a “no-brainer.” However, he insists Arsenal’s priority should be securing a top striker, emphasizing that every team needs a reliable goal scorer.
Meanwhile, Bayern sporting director Max Eberl remains hopeful that Kimmich could yet agree to an extension. As negotiations continue, Arsenal will have to decide whether to make their midfield move or focus solely on their attacking needs.
