Arsenal Eyeing Premier League Star to Replace Injured Saka

Arsenal have been advised to consider West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus as a top contender to replace Bukayo Saka, following the winger’s devastating injury.

Saka, a vital player for the Gunners, was forced off the pitch during Arsenal’s win against Crystal Palace on December 21 and also missed Friday’s victory over Ipswich Town.

Manager Mikel Arteta initially predicted Saka would be sidelined for “many weeks.” However, it was later revealed that the 23-year-old underwent surgery, likely keeping him out until March.

The England international shared a post-operation photo from his hospital bed on Saturday, assuring fans he’d return stronger.

Before his injury, Saka was enjoying another stellar season, with five goals and 10 assists in 16 league games, further solidifying his reputation as one of the Premier League’s finest talents.

Despite the setback, Arteta has hinted that Arsenal won’t pursue a direct replacement during the January transfer window, preferring to rely on internal options.

However, former Arsenal midfielder Adrian Clarke has suggested the club should consider a bold move for West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus.

“Kudus is the perfect replacement for Saka and can even contribute as a striker,” Clarke told talkSPORT. “He’s a brilliant dribbler and would fit seamlessly into Arsenal’s style of play. Why not test West Ham with an offer this month?”

Kudus, a Ghanaian international, has been a key player for West Ham since joining from Ajax for £38m in 2023. He’s scored 17 goals across two seasons, but with West Ham struggling this campaign under Julen Lopetegui, Kudus may reconsider his future.

The Hammers, who were humiliated 5-0 by Liverpool on Sunday, sit on just 23 points from 19 games, raising doubts about their prospects this season.

Arsenal, meanwhile, have been solid, losing just twice in 18 games but trailing league leaders Liverpool by nine points.

Reflecting on Arsenal’s title challenge, Clarke expressed optimism: “The last two seasons, Arsenal led the race but finished second. This time, being the chasers might work in our favor. Liverpool are under pressure too, and it could play to our advantage.”

While Arsenal’s defense has been rock-solid, Clarke emphasized the need for more attacking firepower, especially against teams employing defensive setups, as seen in their game against Ipswich.

The Gunners will look to reignite their title hopes when they face Brentford in a London derby on New Year’s Day.
