Speaking in an interview, Petit highlighted the lack of a consistent goal-scorer in Arsenal’s squad, emphasizing that a player capable of delivering 20-30 goals per season is essential for the Gunners to compete at the highest level.
Among the names Petit admires is Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, a forward who has drawn attention for his impressive performances.
Arsenal’s Striker Conundrum
Petit expressed his concerns about Arsenal’s current strike force, acknowledging the efforts of Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus but pointing out their inability to reach the goal tallies expected of a top striker.
“They need a really, really good striker who can score goals because sometimes Havertz and Jesus can do the job, but not consistently,” Petit explained. He believes this lack of a dependable goal-scorer could hold Arsenal back in their pursuit of silverware.
Osimhen, with his lethal finishing and physical presence, has emerged as a prime candidate to fill this gap. Petit also praised AC Milan’s Rafael Leão as another viable option, noting their consistent contributions at club level.
However, the Frenchman insists that a player like Osimhen could transform Arsenal’s attack into one of the most feared in Europe.
Why Osimhen is the Right Choice for Arsenal
Victor Osimhen’s goal-scoring exploits have made him one of the most sought-after forwards in Europe. Petit believes that signing a player of Osimhen’s caliber would provide Arsenal with the firepower they need to dominate both domestically and in Europe.
The Nigerian forward’s combination of pace, power, and clinical finishing makes him an ideal fit for Mikel Arteta’s attacking philosophy.
Additionally, with Paris Saint-Germain reportedly monitoring Osimhen, Arsenal may face stiff competition for his signature. Nevertheless, Petit urges the Gunners to prioritize securing a striker who can consistently deliver the goals needed to challenge for major honors.
