Arsenal missed a golden opportunity to close the gap on Liverpool, settling for a 1-1 draw against Fulham at Raven Cottage on Sunday.

The result pushes Arsenal temporarily into second place in the league, six points adrift of Liverpool, who hold the top spot.

Super Eagles stars Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey were key figures for Fulham, alongside former Arsenal forward Emile Smith Rowe, who also featured prominently.

With Liverpool’s match against Everton postponed due to adverse weather and Manchester City sharing points with Crystal Palace, Arsenal had a prime chance to reduce the Reds’ lead.

Despite a promising start, the Gunners fell behind in the 11th minute when Raul Jimenez fired Fulham into the lead.

Arsenal leveled the score in the 52nd minute, courtesy of William Saliba’s clinical finish from a set piece. A well-placed cross by Declan Rice was headed down, allowing Saliba to slot home. VAR reviewed the goal for offside but ultimately let it stand.

Late drama unfolded in the 88th minute as Bukayo Saka appeared to secure the win with a header from Gabriel Martinelli’s cross. However, celebrations were cut short when VAR ruled the goal offside, leaving Arsenal frustrated.

Liverpool’s lead remains intact, with Arsenal left ruing another missed chance in the title race.
