Arsenal Suffers Double Blow as Gabriel Jesus Injury Adds to FA Cup Exit

Mikel Arteta has voiced serious concern over Gabriel Jesus’ knee injury, which added to Arsenal’s FA Cup third-round exit at the hands of a ten-man Manchester United.

Arsenal, boasting 14 FA Cup titles, showed resilience at the Emirates. Gabriel Magalhaes leveled the score shortly after Bruno Fernandes’ spectacular opener and Diogo Dalot’s red card.

However, despite a penalty save by Altay Bayindir and a thrilling second half, neither side could clinch victory in regulation or extra time. Defending champions United eventually triumphed in a penalty shootout.

The result capped a difficult period for Arsenal, now winless in their last three matches and struggling without key players Bukayo Saka and Ethan Nwaneri.

The sight of Gabriel Jesus being stretchered off before halftime has further complicated matters for Arteta, whose attacking options are now severely limited.

“It’s a big worry,” Arteta said during the post-match press conference. “He was in a lot of pain, clutching his knee. It’s not looking good at all.”

When asked if this injury was related to the knee issue Jesus suffered during the 2022 World Cup, Arteta clarified: “No, it’s the other knee. But the pain he felt and how he had to come off is concerning.”

Despite the heartbreak, Arteta commended his team’s efforts against United. “It’s incredible how we didn’t win that game,” he remarked. “We dominated in every aspect, created numerous chances, but couldn’t convert. That’s football.”

He added: “We didn’t get the result we deserved, and it hurts. But I couldn’t be prouder of my players for their performances here and against Newcastle. They gave everything against two top sides but didn’t get the rewards.”

With injuries piling up and results eluding them, Arsenal now faces mounting challenges as they navigate a demanding season.
