Arsenal are reportedly considering a summer move for Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich, whose future at the German club remains uncertain. Despite being a key figure for Bayern over the past decade, contract talks have stalled, opening the door for potential suitors.

Former Bayern legend Lothar Matthaus, however, has urged Kimmich to put an end to the speculation, claiming there’s no club that can offer him a better future than Bayern. The versatile midfielder, who joined from RB Leipzig ten years ago, has made 435 appearances and won 20 major trophies, including eight Bundesliga titles and the 2020 Champions League.

Bayern currently lead the Bundesliga, poised to secure another title, but Kimmich’s contract expires in 2025. Talks over an extension have yet to progress, sparking Arsenal’s interest in a potential free transfer this summer. The Gunners view him as a replacement for Jorginho and Thomas Partey.

Matthaus, however, believes Bayern have already been patient enough. “Kimmich must decide—there’s no grey area, only black or white,” he wrote in his Sky Deutschland column. “Bayern rarely wait this long for players. Patience runs out eventually, and contracts can be finalized within a week.”

The German icon also warned that the ongoing uncertainty could disrupt Bayern’s dressing room, especially with their Champions League last-16 clash against Bayer Leverkusen approaching. “Kimmich is crucial to Bayern, particularly because of his mentality,” Matthaus said.

Bayern sporting director Max Eberl remains hopeful of resolving the situation, emphasizing that the club will move forward regardless of Kimmich’s decision. “No player is above the club. If he chooses to leave, Bayern will continue,” Eberl told Bild. “We respect each other, and discussions are ongoing.”
