Kai Havertz is expected to return for Arsenal’s crucial Premier League clash against Brighton this Saturday, following his absence due to illness during the Gunners’ hard-fought New Year’s Day victory over Brentford. Gabriel Jesus stepped up brilliantly in Havertz’s absence, netting a crucial equalizer at the Gtech Community Stadium.

A win at Brighton would put Arsenal within three points of league leaders Liverpool, further boosting their title aspirations. Havertz, who has been deployed in midfield in recent victories over Crystal Palace and Ipswich, is likely to be in contention for a starting spot.

However, Arsenal will still be without Bukayo Saka, who faces an extended layoff. On the brighter side, Raheem Sterling is nearing a return from a knee injury, which has sidelined him for three matches. Arteta confirmed Sterling is back on the pitch and progressing well.

In defense, Jurrien Timber’s suspension leaves a gap at right-back. Thomas Partey may fill in temporarily, but there’s optimism around the returns of Takehiro Tomiyasu and Ben White.

Tomiyasu is back in light training after a long-term injury, while White, recovering from knee surgery, could make an earlier-than-expected comeback later this month.

Arteta remains cautious yet hopeful: “Ben is still a few weeks away, but his knee looks good. Tomi has done some light work, and we’ll see how he progresses.”

The Gunners will need all hands on deck as they aim to maintain their winning streak and keep pace in the title race.
